For his part, Idalberto Chiavenato, the author of Human resources management, defines the Training Plan as “a short-term process, applied in a systematic and organised way, by which people gain knowledge, skills, and abilities in relation to defined objectives.”.

In short, it is a matter of specifying how, when and by whom they will participate in training actions to improve their competencies and skills as part of the quest for continuous improvement of human capital.

In this sense, the Professional Training Plan is a powerful instrument for achieving business excellence, as among its objectives are contributions are:

The process of elaboration

How is the drafting of the Vocational Training Plan carried out? The development of this document should be carried out according to the following steps steps:

  • Situation analysis. The starting point of a company's Professional Training Plan is a detailed study of the company's staff training needs according to the company's objectives.
  • Prioritisation of training. Once an inventory has been made of each employee's areas for improvement, a hierarchy must be established on the basis of the allocated budget, determining which competencies should be developed as a priority.
  • Specification of the measures. The next step will be the detailed design of the specific actions to be implemented in order to meet these professional training needs of the human capital, i.e. defining how and when to proceed with this continuous improvement.
  • Implementation of the strategy. Now it is time to take action and implement the planned training programmes, always trying to involve workers as much as possible.
  • Evaluation of results. The vocational training process concludes with a detailed analysis of the strategy, in order to know the degree of success of each action. This information will allow the document to be redesigned, correcting errors and deviations and refining the plan on an ongoing basis.

Also, the Vocational Training Plan can be associated with a policy of flexible compensation The employee can decide how much of his or her salary he or she receives in cash and how much of his or her salary he or she receives in training courses to acquire more skills for his or her job.
