One of the most important aspects to be taken into account when it comes to achieving good motivation at work is to apply specific techniques that allow for its implementation and development. In fact, it is essential that HR teams devote the necessary time to these types of motivational techniques, as they are the most effective way to maximise their benefits, which will have a positive impact on both employees and the company itself.

What are work motivation techniques?

Work motivation techniques are those that concrete actions that are carried out to promote and improving work motivation of a company's employees. Work motivation is also understood as the ability of companies to ensure that their employees relate positively to the company as a whole and to each of the activities they carry out in their jobs. In other words, it is the positive association that workers express with their jobs and the higher the work motivation, the greater the benefits for both the employees themselves and the company.

How important are they for the company

The importance of work motivation is to be understood in the context of the production context. The more motivated employees are at work, the more productive they will be in their jobs, which means higher production in the company as a whole and, consequently, higher profits.

In addition, another of the fundamental aspects linked to work motivation is that it reduces the employee turnover rate. This is due to the fact that, as employees feel at ease in their jobs, they stay longer. In this way, costs are reduced due to turnover and the need to train new employees to replace the first ones.

Examples of work motivation techniques

However, work motivation is not something that arises spontaneously on its own. On the contrary, it is necessary to creating the optimal circumstances and environment for employees to develop and enhance it to the maximum extent possible. This can be achieved through the development and application of various work motivation techniques. Some of the most effective are the following:

  • Correct placement of the workerOne of the most effective work motivation techniques is to assign the employee to a job that motivates him or her. That is to say, to assign jobs according to the employee's own abilities, but also taking into account his or her preferences when it comes to working in a certain field or aspect of the company. In this way, the employee will be much more stimulated in his or her daily work activity, which will result in higher work motivation.
  • Occupational risk plan adapted to circumstances and needsAnother of the most important work motivation techniques that can be implemented in a company is the creation of an effective occupational risk plan. In other words, an occupational risk plan that is perfectly adapted to the specific needs and circumstances of each employee.
  • Social benefitsAnother of the most important work motivation techniques that should not be overlooked is the application of social benefits, and to do so especially adapted to the particular needs of each employee. In this sense, the application of social benefits, such as the Transport Ticket or the Childcare Ticket, is one of the most effective ways to promote work motivation, as the employee is rewarded for his or her work in a more concrete and personal way than simply with a standard salary increase. In addition, a standard salary increase is often accompanied by higher tax deductions, so it is not always the most convenient solution for the employee himself/herself.

Labour recognition: Finally, another of the most important work motivation techniques that can be applied is the creation of structures that allow the worker to promote internally. In this way, in addition to the tangible benefits they may receive for their activity, they also obtain an added benefit derived from social recognition within the company itself, which helps them to feel valued and respected, leading to an improvement in work motivation as a whole.
