The flexible remuneration is a great ally to increase the purchasing power of professionals, but how many are really aware of its benefits? At Edenred, we have analysed the most relevant figures and data for you to discover how this solution can make a difference in your day-to-day work.

What do we know about flexible pay?

Although 53.3 % of professionals have heard of the concept, only 5.2 % understand how it really works or how much they could save by applying it. This lack of knowledge not only limits the possibilities for personal savings, but also makes it difficult for companies to implement it effectively.

Taking as a reference the average annual salary in Spain, which in 2022 was 26,948.87 euros according to INE data, a person could save up to 1,322.46 euros a year by using flexible remuneration in services such as Ticket Restaurant, Edenred Nursery o Edenred Mobility. This tool allows up to 30 % of gross annual salary to be allocated to tax-exempt products, adapting to the needs of each profile.

Priorities according to professional profiles

Our study also shows that preferences in the use of this solution vary according to salary level and career stage. Young people with salaries below €25,000 tend to prioritise mobility and language training, while those above €25,000 prefer to invest in catering and discounts on digital platforms. As work experience progresses, interests diversify: those earning less than €25,000 continue to focus on mobility, while higher salaries go towards health insurance or pension plans.

Furthermore, awareness of flexible remuneration seems to be directly related to salary. Of those earning more than 53,000 euros, 90 % are aware of this solution and its benefits, while among those earning between 18,001 and 25,000 euros, the percentage drops to 37 %. This figure highlights the need for greater dissemination and training on the subject in order to democratise access to it and its advantages.

To illustrate how flexible remuneration impacts on personal finances, we present two examples that show how the results vary according to the profile and priorities of each professional:
