Business creativity

Table of contents

Creativity is often discussed mainly in the fields of art and advertising. However, there are many other areas where creativity plays a crucial role. This is the case of entrepreneurial creativity.

We understand by entrepreneurial creativity that way of solving problems in a new way within the company. It has a lot to do with innovation and, like this one, it offers many advantages.

In this post we will point out some of the benefits of implementing creative thinking in your company.

New ideas through entrepreneurial creativity

Perhaps the most direct application of entrepreneurial creativity is to be found in the idea generation that increase the number of products and services a company offers to its customers.

However, we should not only focus on the product portfolio, as there are many other processes in which entrepreneurial creativity can generate ideas that benefit the company. Here are a few examples:

  • When it comes to customer service, any form of differentiation from the competition may determine that they end up choosing us.
  • When it is time to solve a problem, creative thinking, of whatever type, can contribute to finding more effective and efficient solutions.
  • With regard to the internal environment, Creativity can help us to find ways to bring employees closer together or to increase their motivation at work.

This is why it is highly advisable to cultivate creative thinking not only in the R&D department, but in all departments. In this sense, any training on creativity that our employees receive will help them to learn more about this way of thinking and how they can apply it to their work.

Entrepreneurial creativity as habituation to flexible thinking

In every company it is important for employees to have a certain level of flexibility of thought. Flexibility of thought is understood as the way of dealing with situations by considering different points of view and taking the optimal one.

Here are some examples of how flexible thinking can benefit our business:

  • Returning to the problem solving mentioned in the previous point, the greater the flexibility in thinking, the more agile the localisation of differential solutions.
  • When we integrate a solution into the company that our employees are not familiar with, there may be some reluctance towards it. Anything new tends to create an initial rejection in most people. For example, if we decide to integrate a system Corporate with cards and mobile app and our employees have never used anything similar, they will probably not use it because of the inconvenience of carrying an extra card in their wallet or clearing space on their smartphone to install the associated app. Unless, of course, they are used to thinking flexibly and accepting new solutions, so they will readily and effortlessly embrace the solution we are offering.

If we want our employees to have flexible thinking, then theoretical training on creativity is not enough. In addition, creative training is necessary to strengthen their mental flexibility through different practices.

Business creativity in recruitment

When it comes to choosing new employees for a company, the creativity in the Human Resources department is key. A number of creative approaches can be applied in the recruitment process, for example:

  • Group dynamics to detect leadership and teamwork skills in candidates.
  • Application of non-conventional tests that allow us to measure different personal and professional characteristics.
  • Referring again to the flexible thinking, This time applied to the people in charge of the selection process, it will allow for the detection of possible strengths that, in a standard analysis, would go unnoticed.

In short, business creativity is vital if you want to optimise your processes. Cultivating it is what will make the difference between your company and your competition.
