These allow the knowledge and wisdom of senior employees to be passed on to younger employees, creating an environment of learning and growth.<br \/>\nMentoring is about creating a supportive relationship between a mentor who passes on his or her experience and knowledge to a mentee, who wants to learn and develop.<\/p>\n<p>The objectives of this system are, among others:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increasing knowledge.<\/li>\n<li>Improve trust between peers.<\/li>\n<li>Increasing motivation.<\/li>\n<li>Learning to communicate better.<\/li>\n<li>To increase the autonomy and initiative of individuals.<\/li>\n<li>Improve the knowledge level of the organisation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This practice also offers a number of advantages for the company:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Development of new talent.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring the generational replacement of key positions.<\/li>\n<li>Attracting and retaining talent.<\/li>\n<li>Improve the working environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is a mentoring programme?<\/h2>\n<p>In any mentoring process we will find, as mentioned above, two figures: the mentor and the mentee.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The novelty of mentoring is that it does not consist of the mentor talking and the mentee listening.<\/strong> It is a collaborative process where communication must flow in both directions.<\/p>\n<p>In the first mentoring meeting, the mentor should listen to the mentee and understand what their expectations and goals are. Then, together, they should establish a work programme detailing what they are going to do to achieve those goals and how long it will take.<br \/>\nThis is where the mentor's expertise comes into play in guiding the mentee along the way and offering support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This practice is often very motivating for both mentor and mentee.<\/strong> The former has the opportunity to put his or her knowledge to good use and the mentee learns from someone who has proven his or her worth within the company.<\/p>\n<h2>What do you need to do to set up a mentoring programme in your company?<\/h2>\n<p>If you want to test this system within your company, these are the steps to follow:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Select the right mentor:<\/strong> look for leaders who are able to transmit the values of your company and set an example for young people.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Make sure you have the right equipment:<\/strong> checks that the partners fit together and that there can be an interesting and mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Set goals and purposes:<\/strong> Both should agree on the areas to be worked on during the programme.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Make sure everyone follows the process<\/strong> explaining it in detail from the outset.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Promotes confidentiality:<\/strong> For the programme to be effective, mentor and mentee must be able to speak freely during their working sessions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Create a communication strategy<\/strong> so that all members of the company understand what the objectives of the programme are and how to participate in it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Start small and measure the results of the programme.
