{"id":25183,"date":"2020-01-20T07:30:34","date_gmt":"2020-01-20T05:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edenred.es\/blog\/?p=25183"},"modified":"2025-02-10T13:03:15","modified_gmt":"2025-02-10T12:03:15","slug":"anticipo-remuneracion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edenred.es\/en\/blog\/anticipo-remuneracion\/","title":{"rendered":"Advance payment of remuneration: what is it and when can it be requested?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the ways in which workers can obtain money in case of urgent need is the advance of remuneration, which will enable them to<strong> to advance part of their salaries in exceptional cases<\/strong> when necessary. However, the advance payment of remuneration has certain limitations and should always be considered as an exception when obtaining remuneration from the salary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-que-es-un-anticipo-de-remuneracion\">What is an advance payment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Advance payment of remuneration is an option which <strong>allows workers to receive part of their normal remuneration before the normal pay date<\/strong>. When such an advance is made, the final amount will be deducted from the remuneration at the usual time of payment, which means that the employee, in the end, gets the same amount of money even though the payments are made at several different times.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cuando-puede-un-trabajador-solicitar-un-anticipo-de-remuneracion\">When can an employee request an advance payment of remuneration?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Article 29 of the Workers' Statute<\/strong> is the one that states that \u201c<em>the employee and, with his or her authorisation, his or her legal representatives, shall be entitled to receive advances on account of work already carried out before the date fixed for payment<\/em>\u201d. However, it must be borne in mind that, in order for the advance payment of remuneration to be executed correctly, a number of requirements must be met:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-se-trata-de-una-peticion-puntual\">This is a one-off request<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, the advance payment of remuneration is formulated as <strong>an exceptional solution to the lack of liquidity<\/strong>. However, this makes it an option that can only be used on an ad hoc basis, never as a rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-solo-aplicable-a-la-nomina-mensual\">Only applicable to monthly payroll<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another important aspect to bear in mind with regard to salary advances is that they can only be applied for in respect of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edenred.es\/en\/blog\/recomendaciones-gestion-nominas-empresa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">monthly payroll<\/a> of the worker. In other words, that<strong> no advance payment of any kind of bonus may be requested.<\/strong> or special bonus to which the worker will have access in the future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-solo-aplicable-al-trabajo-ya-realizado\">Only applicable to work already done<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding the amount of money that can be requested in the advance, it should be borne in mind that the law does not establish an exact amount. But it does limit the advance to <strong>a maximum amount that is commensurate with the work already done<\/strong>. For example, if you have worked two weeks and there are two more weeks to go until you receive your monthly payment, you can request an advance payment for the two weeks of work already done, but not for the two weeks you still have to work until your regular paycheck.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-otras-formas-de-aumentar-el-poder-adquisitivo-del-trabajador\">Other ways to increase worker purchasing power&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While advance pay is one solution that employees can resort to when they are short of cash, there are other ways in which the company can<strong> increase the purchasing power of employees without the need to advance or increase wages.<\/strong> of these directly. The <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.edenred.es\/en\/flexible-compensation\/?utm_source=IC&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=inbound\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Flexible Compensation<\/a> enables employees to convert part of their salary into different tickets, such as the <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.edenred.es\/en\/ticket-guarderia\/?utm_source=IC&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=inbound\" target=\"_blank\">Childcare Ticket<\/a> or the <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.edenred.es\/en\/ticket-transporte\/?utm_source=IC&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=inbound\" target=\"_blank\">Transport Ticket<\/a>, among others.
